A 2012 London Olympian and former Great Britain discus thrower, Abdul’s sporting career saw him rise to 5th on Britain’s all-time list. Since retiring, he’s remained a powerful advocate for athletes and young people—supporting transitions through Athlete Alumni, championing youth development with the Personal Best Foundation, promoting mental health with BRIT, and co-founding the Lloyd Cowan Bursary to empower the next generation. Alongside his impact work, Abdul has built a successful career in wealth management, advising high-net-worth clients with strategic guidance. 🌊 When sport meets purpose, change happens. This week we were proud to stand alongside Surfers Against Sewage at the Thames Swim – an extraordinary campaign calling for an end to sewage in our waterways. A group of incredible athletes took on a tough, unforgiving challenge: swimming 200k+ of the River Thames NON STOP!! - and finishing in front of the Houses of Parliament. Their goal? To demand cleaner rivers so that everyone can safely enjoy water-based activities and reconnect with nature. At Sport Impact, we were delighted to meet the athletes at the finish line and congratulate them on this mammoth achievement. Their strength and resilience were inspiring – but what truly stood out was their purpose. They used their skills, fitness, and platform to shine a spotlight on one of the most urgent environmental issues of our time. 👏 We salute the swimmers – you are amazing. 👏 We celebrate Surfers Against Sewage for organising such a powerful event. 🌊 New Sport Impact Champion - Paddleboarding Pioneer – David Haze 🌊 We’re honoured to welcome David Haze to the Sport Impact Summit, where he joins us as a powerful advocate for sustainability, human health, and equality & inclusion through the lens of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). David’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. After his release from prison in 2020, he made a promise to himself – to become the man he was meant to be. Through open water, he found not just freedom, but purpose. Since then, David has: 🏆 Been named Ocean Activist of the Year 🏆 Won International SUP Man of the Year 🎥 Won SUP Film of the Year 🌍 Set eight world records, becoming the most decorated SUP adventurer globally ♻️ Completed net-zero expeditions, including paddling around the Isle of Wight on a board made from rubbish (it didn’t survive – but he did) 🌲 Planted 110 trees in a prison yard to offset travel and give others a space for healing David doesn’t just talk about impact – he lives it. Each expedition is aligned to a cause he believes in, from ocean health to restorative justice. His work brings powerful attention to environmental stewardship, and the transformative role sport can play for individuals and communities.
