Dominic Thiem is a former world No. 3 tennis star and is committed to reducing his carbon footprint through several environmental initiatives.
LONDON, UK, 11, October 2024 – Sport Impact Summit has announced Austrian tennis star Dominic Thiem is the latest player to join the team as an Impact Champion.
Dominic Thiem is a former world No. 3 and consistently ranked in the top 10 during a period that saw him win the majority of his 17 tennis titles, including a grand slam title at the US Open in 2020, where he became the first male player born in the 1990s to win a major title.
Known for his powerful, fast winners and one-handed backhand, Thiem is now rallying together with Sport Impact Summit to change the world through the power of sport.
Off the court, Thiem has stood out for his commitment to sustainability, supporting causes such as Ocean Conservation, World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) in Austria and wears the Adidas X Parley Collection, which is made from ocean recycled plastics. More recently, Thiem partnered with OMV (Österreichische Mineralölverwaltung Aktiengesellschaft), to support its mission in decarbonising aviation with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Dominic is also the creator of Thiem Energy, which is powered by SOLAH GmbH, aiming to provide transparent and fair pricing for renewable electricity in Austria.
“Dominic is a true competitor having competed and come out on top against some of the modern greats in tennis,” said Sean Morris, Co-Founder of Sport Impact Summit. “We’re thrilled to have him on the team for our inaugural summit this December and look forward to channelling his winning mentality to change the score against climate change.”
“I can’t wait to join the rest of the team at Sport Impact Summit,” said Dominic Thiem. “As a professional athlete, travel is a big part of my life, and I’m committed to doing everything I can to reduce the impact of my travel. I’m excited to be able amplify my partnership with OMV at the summit and looking forward to collaborating on new initiatives, because every step matters on the path to a more sustainable future.”

Hosted at the Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai on December 4th 2024, Sport Impact Summit promises to create powerful narratives through inspiring keynotes, panel discussions, and interactive workshops. By drawing on the influence of elite athletes, sports organisations, sports teams, academics, the green finance community, and corporations, Sport Impact Summit is aiming to inspire a billion people to take action for the planet’s wellbeing and their own health.
As December edges closer, Sport Impact Summit will continue to assemble its team of Impact Champions and Impact Partners to help inspire real change. High-profile names including McLaren Racing, SailGP, ATP, and Chris Smalling have already joined the team with more to follow in the coming weeks.
